ABOUT TOTAL WORKER HEALTH

Total Worker Health ® is a holistic approach that integrates occupational safety and health protection with policies, programs and practices that promote overall worker well-being. By addressing workplace conditions such as workload, staffing, and job design that can affect employee health and safety, the NIOSH Hierarchy of Controls, help to prioritize systems-level changes that eliminate or reduce hazards, recognizing that these strategies are generally more effective than approaches focused solely on individual behavior.

At UC Berkeley, we believe the health, safety and well-being of staff are fundamental to our core values and every worker should have the opportunity to flourish and thrive at work. As a NIOSH Total Worker Health Affiliate, UC Berkeley is committed to fostering a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace through a comprehensive array of prevention and treatment services, health in all policies, evidence-based health programs, and strategic partnerships. Learn more about Total Worker Health ®.
