What It Is
Connections at Berkeley is a week-long, campus-wide invitation to pause, reconnect, and celebrate the power of Connection—to self, to each other, and to something bigger.
From March 16–23, the campus will come alive with shared experiences, large and small, that support all dimensions of well-being, belonging, and curiosity while strengthening compassion across the University.
This initiative unites UC Berkeley’s departments, colleges, student groups, and programs around one transformative but straightforward goal: to make well-being visible, collective, and actionable.
Why It Matters
Today, members of our community are seeking greater meaning, belonging, and hope in daily campus life. Connection at Berkeley responds to that call by:
-
Lifting up mental and general well-being as shared priorities.
-
Celebrating discovery through connection—how learning and thriving reinforce each other.
-
Reducing barriers to participation by encouraging low-cost, easy-to-join, inclusive activities.
-
Modeling a culture of care that strengthens the foundation for excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
When we connect, we flourish—individually and collectively!
How It Works
The Week of Action uses a distributed model: a few marquee events anchor the week, while dozens of smaller activities, hosted by departments, programs, and groups, take place across campus.
Each event host chooses one of the Three Connections as a guiding theme to anchor their event:
-
Connection to Self → activities that promote reflection, mindfulness, or creativity
-
Connection to Each Other → opportunities that foster belonging and shared experience
-
Connection to Something Bigger → moments that inspire awe, gratitude, or service
All events—whether a single activity or a series—will be featured under the unified banner of Connection at Berkeley
