Creating Healthy Learning Environments

Introduction

At UC Berkeley, we believe that a healthy academic environment and campus culture are essential for the success of our students, staff, and faculty. We strive to promote academic excellence while also acknowledging the importance of creating an educational experience that values the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health of individuals and acknowledges the different needs of our diverse campus.

The Healthy Learning Environment toolkit and resources are research and evidence-based strategies designed to equip Faculty and Graduate Student Instructors with the tools to integrate sustainable practices and healthy cultural norms in the classroom, which will lead to student retention, effective learning outcomes, and academic success.

Explore the Healthy Learning Environment Toolkit and commit to a healthier academic environment!

How to use the Healthy Learning Environment Toolkit

Faculty, Graduate Student Instructors, and Lecturers each have an important role in the lives of our students and can be active contributors to a healthy academic environment.

Begin by identifying which commitment level resonates with you:

  • Level 1: Download the toolkit
  • Level 2: Download the toolkit + complete a short evaluation
  • Level 3: Become an Academic Wellness Advocate! Commit to fully integrate the well-being concepts from the toolkit into your classroom, complete the evaluation, and contribute to a movement and culture that supports, and helps to sustain the well-being of our campus community - students, faculty, and staff.
